The wagons were delivered in spring 2026 and introduced into DB Cargo’s Automotive RailNet for use by multiple customers.
DB Cargo Automotive has put 60 new Laaeffrs
560.4 car carrier wagons into service in Germany.
The Laaeffrs 560.4 is based on DB Cargo’s
existing 560 wagon family. The latest version can transport cars weighing up to
3.2 tonnes each, allowing it to carry heavier battery-electric vehicles. The
wagons also have flexible loading decks and a flat wagon position for taller
vehicles, including vans and large SUVs.
DB Cargo procured the wagons from CRRC,
following preparation work with the manufacturer, DB Cargo Automotive and DB
Cargo’s Assets & Maintenance unit. The 560.4 wagons received European
approval at the start of 2026.
The wagons were shipped to the Port of
Brake on the Unterweser. At the port, they were unloaded by crane, unpacked,
placed on the rails, coupled and inspected before entering regular service.
DB Cargo said maintenance and operational
requirements were included in the development process. The new-build wagons
include strength optimisations and changes intended to improve maintainability.
Further Laaeffrs 560.4 car carrier wagons
are planned for delivery as DB Cargo Automotive continues renewing its fleet
for automotive transport.
