These OXO Measuring Cups Minimize Mess

My mini OXO measuring cup sees near-daily use in my kitchen, particularly when I’m measuring oil and vinegar for salad dressings or bourbon for cocktails. It’s the perfect size: small enough to keep me from pulling out multiple teaspoons and tablespoons and large enough to accommodate up to 1/4 cup of liquid without dirtying extra bowls. Unlike glass or plastic measuring cups or stainless steel measuring spoons, these cups are made of silicone. This substantially streamlines the storage process, thanks to their lack of bulky handles. Happily, they’re also flexible and easy to pinch into a narrow spout, which, along with the curved lip, allows liquid to flow easily. Another bonus? They transition from the microwave to the dishwasher for hassle-free heating and cleaning, respectively. 

While I can’t speak to the efficacy of this feature because I haven’t tried it myself, the brand says the honeycomb pattern on the outside dissipates heat, so the exterior isn’t boiling-hot when you grab it after a trip through the microwave. With three sizes in the set, including a 1/2-cup, a 1-cup, and a 2-cup, I have no trouble imagining myself utilizing this trio to complete a multitude of kitchen tasks. I could mix pancake batter in the largest, warm maple syrup in the smallest, and melt butter in the last. 

I never thought I would see the day when I would toss my mini measuring cup in favor of another, but I think this OXO set is destined to dethrone it. It’s bittersweet, this feeling.
