Three models are planned, including a secure device for government employees
Turkey is preparing to launch its first locally developed smartphone in early 2027 as part of a joint project involving defense company ASELSAN, telecommunications operator Türk Telekom and TTT İnovasyon, CNN Türk reports.
The first device is expected to be unveiled in the first quarter of 2027. The project envisages the development of three different smartphone models, with one specifically designed for government employees.
High-security smartphone for government
The model intended for public-sector use will be a high-end device featuring an encrypted security system.
According to CNN Türk, its primary purpose will be to provide secure communications, including voice calls and messaging, while helping prevent data leaks and strengthen cybersecurity within government institutions.
The other two smartphones will target the consumer market.
The companies have not yet disclosed the full technical specifications, pricing or other details about the devices. More information is expected to be announced as the project progresses.
The initiative is part of Turkey’s broader efforts to develop domestic technologies and strengthen its technological and cybersecurity capabilities.
