POCO has revealed the specifications for its new POCO F9 smartphone series, which includes the F9 Ultra and F9 Pro models. Both devices feature the flagship Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 platforms, displays with refresh rates of up to 185 Hz, and support for fast charging. At the same time, the higher-end model offers a more powerful camera, a larger battery, and a more advanced audio system.

The POCO F9 Ultra is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, while the F9 Pro is equipped with a special version of this chip – the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 V Series. Both platforms are manufactured using TSMC’s 3-nm process and utilize the Qualcomm Oryon processor. The series’ smartphones also feature the VisionBoost D8 graphics chip. The system offers features such as Smart Frame Rate, AI Super Resolution, Game HDR, and Dual-core Visuals. AI Super Resolution currently works in games such as Call of Duty, Genshin Impact, Honkai: Star Rail, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, and PUBG Mobile.

For gaming, the company has implemented the WildBoost Engine, which determines optimal performance settings based on frame rate and gameplay scenarios, compensates for FPS drops, regulates thermal load, and controls power consumption. The POCO F9 series supports a 185 Hz refresh rate, and in certain games, frame rates of up to 185 FPS are claimed. According to the manufacturer, 24 games are supported at native 185 FPS, and games such as Mobile Legends: Bang Bang and Call of Duty: Mobile can run at up to 165 FPS.

The actual frame rate will depend on the specific game, graphics settings, software version, temperature, and other conditions. For in-game controls, the smartphones feature a touch sampling rate of up to 480 Hz across ten touch points and an instantaneous touch sampling rate of up to 4,800 Hz in Game Turbo mode.

Both models feature POCO HyperRGB AMOLED displays with a refresh rate of up to 185 Hz. The POCO F9 Ultra is equipped with a 6.9-inch panel with a resolution of 2608×1200, while the POCO F9 Pro features a 6.59-inch screen with a resolution of 2510×1156. The POCO F9 Ultra marks the debut of the M11 panel, which uses a next-generation material that increases luminous efficiency by 20% and extends the display’s claimed lifespan by 5%. Maximum brightness in various scenarios reaches 4,500 nits at 25% APL (Average Picture Level), while local peak brightness can reach up to 10,000 nits.
