Global fashion retailer Zara has opened a new store at Inorbit Mall, Mumbai, expanding its retail presence in the city and introducing the brand’s latest global store concept. The store is located on the ground floor and spans more than 25,000 square feet. The store features two independent entrances connected under a single portico, providing direct access to the Women’s and Men’s sections. It offers a wide range of collections for women, men, and kids. Dedicated sections for Shoes and Bags and separate fragrance areas are also included within each department.

The new store incorporates several technology features aimed at improving the shopping experience. Customers can browse real-time inventory through the brand’s digital platforms and locate products inside the store. The location also supports quick collection of online orders within two hours through integrated online and offline retail systems.

Designed by Zara’s Architecture Studio, the store follows the brand’s updated global design format. The layout includes interconnected open spaces created through portal frames, which allow easier movement between different sections. Open ceilings and defined furniture elements help organize product areas across the store.

The design uses a mix of neutral tones, natural wood finishes, black metal detailing, stainless steel, and ceramic elements. Lighting has been arranged to create contrast through dark ceiling sections and focused lighting. In the Women’s section, younger collections feature stainless steel finishes and an industrial style layout. The Shoes and Bags area includes stepped display platforms and leather seating.

Technology and Customer Service Features

The store integrates several services designed to support omnichannel shopping by connecting the physical store with the brand’s online platforms including the website and mobile app. Key features include:

Pickup point for online order collection

Assisted checkout areas across sections with accessible payment stations

Dedicated assisted return points for quicker product returns

The store also includes a cardboard collection point for recycling online packaging. A used clothing collection container allows garments to be donated through a charity partner, and customers can also book repair services for garments. These initiatives are linked to Zara’s online Pre-owned service, which supports the resale of used clothing.

Energy Efficiency Measures

The store has been designed with energy efficiency features, including efficient heating and cooling systems and reduced lighting intensity through LED fixtures. Zara also uses its internal Inergy platform to monitor electricity and air conditioning consumption. The system helps manage maintenance and supports efforts to reduce energy usage across store operations.

Zara and Inditex

Zara is part of the Inditex Group, a global fashion company that also owns brands such as Pull&Bear, Massimo Dutti, Bershka, Stradivarius, Oysho, Zara Home, and Lefties. The company operates in 98 markets and sells online in more than 200 markets. Inditex has set a target to achieve climate neutrality by 2040.

In India, Inditex currently operates 20 Zara stores, and the new Mumbai location further strengthens the brand’s presence in the country’s fashion retail market.
