Just as boaters in northern parts of the United States can’t wait for warmer temperatures, the owners of the yacht Lollipop can’t wait for the summertime. They’re taking delivery soon of their new megayacht in The Netherlands and will embark on their first cruising season, perhaps in the nearby Med.
The owners stepped in to buy the yacht last October, when construction was already well underway. She started on spec as Moonen YN206, hull number eight in the shipyard’s 122 Martinique series. The popularity of the series, and the ongoing desire among cruisers to be able to enjoy time onboard quickly, are two major reasons why Moonen builds many of its boats on spec.
Yet another big attraction, Moonen collaborates with different design studios from time to time for the interiors. In this case, it chose to work with Vripack, which cleverly re-imagined the Moonen 122 Martinique series. The studio freed up some useful interior space by requesting that the shipyard move some mechanicals—without compromising her engineering, of course. Additionally, the studio elevated the interior look without making the 123-footer (34-meter) appear too formal. A feature wall in the dining area, for instance, plus walnut for the soles throughout are just two examples.
The owners and Vripack further got creative outside. The yacht Lollipop has areas you’d expect to find, such as a welcoming aft deck. She also has a sundeck with a hot tub and a bar. However, these two particular features, entirely custom-created, are sure to put smiles on the faces of the owners’ family and friends. The front panel of the hot tub, for example, has fun candy-inspired designs. Nearby, meanwhile, lollipops and all sorts of candy sit embedded in the see-through countertop of the bar. Additionally, soft pastel tones emanate from the lighting tubes across the front of the bar. Especially at night, this will be the center of attention.
Friends and charter guests arriving to board the yacht Lollipop will have no trouble picking her out in a marina. She has a metallic hull blending white, silver, and blue-grey.
