Pattern-on-pattern is another key trend, as couples express their individuality, says wedding planner Niemerko, but “always in light, clean, fresh tones”, from tablescapes to bridal parties. “Think a white cloth with a beautiful pattern, matching napkins, seat pads, the whole table telling a story. Then, the odd pop of something bolder, a deep burgundy or a dark green, be it a napkin ribbon or a flower head to add personality and prevent it from feeling too safe. Color-wise, think light grays and blues with white, ivory with deep greens, yellows and lilacs. Bright but not bold; fresh rather than loud.”
Contrasting these earth tones, however, is the traditional desire for a white wedding, Wax adds. But in the spirit of bride-to-be Swift, who even named a song after it, iridescent shade opalite is a trending take on white for 2026. “It’s a divergence, earthy versus fantasy,” Clark says. On Pinterest, searches are spiking for “opalite aesthetic” (+2,710%), “opalescent aesthetic” (+685%), “chrome wedding” (+340%), and “midnight teal” (+470%). It’s also affecting silhouette, with an uptick in searches for ethereal or fantastical silhouettes, like “pearl corset wedding dress” (+100%).
Retro and vintage inspiration
In the vein of individualism, brides are continuing the move into an era that feels less generic and more high fashion in 2026, says Easton, as they source unique, archival, or vintage looks with a story to tell.
A lot of brides are also playing it safe, with classic designs like lace dresses and ballgowns, says Wax, who just covered New York and Barcelona bridal weeks. “Vintage has become so huge in the wedding space, which ties back to brides wanting to be individual,” she says. “They want to say ‘It’s archival’, or ‘I found it’ — it’s not what everyone’s going to be seeing in the salons next season.”
On Net-a-Porter, bridal consumers are leaning into vintage-inspired looks, with “delicate lace and soft transparencies adding a gothic, romantic edge”, says Brigitte Chartrand, Net-a-Porter chief buying and merchandising officer. Traditional styles are also being reimagined with modern twists, she adds, and Vivienne Westwood remains a bestselling brand for the retailer, alongside heavily embellished, vintage-inspired label Clio Peppiat.
