Rick Owens’s artful designs consistently defy what’s possible in fashion. For autumn/winter 2022, his grandiose puffer coats and helmets had heads swivelling, but it was his ingenious interpretation of Egyptian feather crowns that had everyone in Paris talking. Models’ faces were illuminated by lightsabers attached to helmets (an Owens-esque ode to artist Dan Flavin, he explained to Vogue). It was figuratively, and quite literally, a lightbulb moment.
