OPINION: As Britain heats up, I put three cooling sleep products to the test to see if they could stop sweaty nights, midnight duvet kicks and endless pillow flipping
As temperatures continue to climb across the UK, many Brits are facing the same nightly battle with tossing, turning and kicking the duvet off in a desperate attempt to stay cool.
Luckily, bedding brand TheraPur claims to have the answer, and after checking out three of its cooling sleep products, they could be the secret weapon against summer’s sticky nights.
The standout item has to be the TheraPur Cool Mattress Protector. While mattress protectors aren’t usually the most exciting purchase, this one genuinely feels different. The cool-touch cover delivers an instant refreshing sensation when you climb into bed, while the breathable quilted fibres are designed to wick away moisture and improve airflow. During warmer nights, it helps stop that dreaded feeling of waking up in a sweat-soaked bed.
Next up is the TheraPur Cool 10.5 Tog Duvet. At first glance, a 10.5 tog duvet sounds like a recipe for overheating. Surprisingly, it’s anything but. The clever cooling cover and temperature-regulating fibres mean you still get that cosy wrapped-up feeling without turning into a human radiator. It’s a solid option for anyone who hates sleeping without a duvet but struggles when the mercury rises.
The real star of the show, however, might be the TheraPur Memory Foam Ice Pillow. Traditional memory foam pillows often trap heat, but this version uses ActiCool technology and breathable foam to keep things cooler throughout the night. The pillow feels supportive without being rock hard and is particularly comfortable for side sleepers. Best of all, it avoids the dreaded “hot pillow flip” many of us perform every few minutes during a heatwave.
With forecasters predicting more warm weather ahead, investing in your sleep could be money well spent. None of these products will magically turn your bedroom into an Arctic tundra, but together they do help take the edge off those muggy summer nights.
If you’re fed up of waking up feeling like you’ve spent eight hours in a sauna, these cooling sleep essentials could help you chill out when the weather refuses to.
