Ciara was among the stars to attend the second day of The Voices Of Beauty Summit at California Market Center in Los Angeles on Thursday.
The singer and actress, 38, dropped a retro 1980s look by donning a black oversized blazer with matching skin-tight pants and a top when she served a keynote speaker for day two.
Being the founder of OAM Skin By Ciara, the actress and singer-turned-entrepreneur had a lot to say when she sat down with Jessica Cruel, Editor-in Chief at Allure, for a Fireside chat.
The event also showcases other industry powerhouse speakers from beauty brands like Glossier, Pattern Beauty, Tower 28, Live Tinted, and PHLUR, retailers like Ulta, Forever21, JCPenney, Fabfitfun, Credo, and beauty publications such as Allure, Cosmopolitan and Refinery29, according to the VBS website.
The summit, which featured John Legend as the keynote speaker during day one, addressed issues like ‘diversity and inclusivity from all angles of the industry — from building a truly authentic brand consumer behavior and funding an inclusive future to accessibility in beauty.’
On this day guests got a pack of information on how to reach a diverse consumer base, breaking down barriers in media, accessibility in beauty, the ever-changing retail landscape, and so much more.
Decked out in her all-black ensemble, Ciara (born Ciara Princess Harris) also wore stiletto-heeled boots and had her raven tresses styled long, straight and full of volume with a part in the middle.
The Foot Hood, Texas native first jumped into the beauty game by launching OAM, which stands for ‘On a Mission’, with five products in September 2022.
The company is a ‘clinically-formulated Vitamin C skincare line founded by Ciara and a team of leading skincare experts,’ it reads on the OAM website.
‘I founded OAM as a clinical collaboration with a team of skincare experts, research scientists, dermatologists, and an MIT engineer,’ she’s says as part of its marketing. ‘We’re on a mission to create a simple routine for all skin tones.’
It took two and a half years of tests and trial to create a line that made clinical skincare both simple and accessible for all skin tones and types.
Ciara rose to prominence with her debut studio album, Goodies (2004) and its lead single of the same name (featuring Petey Pablo), which peaked atop the Billboard Hot 100 and UK Singles Chart.
The album was certified triple platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) and received two nominations at the 48th Annual Grammy Awards.
While her second studio album, Ciara: The Evolution (2006), Ciara scored her first and only number one album on the U.S. Billboard 200.
She would go on to release five more studio albums that all reached certain successful benchmarks that includes: Fantasy Ride (2009), Basic Instinct (2010), Ciara (20130, Jackie (2015) and Beauty Marks (2019).
Along the way up the ladder of success she took part in five headlining tours to help promote her music.
Ciara also jumped into the acting game, debuting in the MTV Films production of the sports-drama film All You’ve Got (2006).
She has appeared on dozens of different reality shows as herself such as Steve Harvey’s Big Time Challenge (2004), Punk’d (2005), So You Think You Can Dance (2006), America’s Next Top Model (2009), Kourtney And Kim Take New York (2011), Keeping Up With The Kardashians (2011) and Project Runway (2015).
Just this past year she starred in her fourth feature film role in The Color Purple (2023) that featured Taraji P. Henson, Danielle Brooks, Colman Domingo, Corey Hawkins, H.E.R., Halle Bailey, Phylicia Pearl Mpasi and Fantasia Barrino, among others.
Ciara is a proud mother of four children who shares three of them with husband and Super Bowl champion quarterback Russell Wilson and her oldest with ex-partner and rapper Future.
