In a big win for consumers, Hyderabad police recently busted a major racket selling fake Apple iPhone accessories, confiscating products worth over Rs 1 crore and arresting four people involved in this illegal business. The crackdown took place at Jagdish Market, a busy spot known for mobile accessories, where these fake products were being sold.
The operation was triggered by a tip-off, leading teams from the Commissioner’s Task Force, Central Zone, and Abids police station to conduct coordinated raids on Monday. The four arrested, Vikram Singh, Suresh Kumar Rajpurohit, Natharam Choudhary, and Mohammad Sarfaraz, all run shops in the same market.

What they found was staggering, hundreds of counterfeit Apple products, including 156 fake EarPods, 16 power banks, 430 Apple logo stickers, hundreds of adapters and cables, batteries, back glass pieces, and over 1,400 silicone back covers. The sheer volume of seized items shows how widespread and organized this fake goods market is.
According to police, these sellers were deliberately tricking customers by using genuine-looking Apple logos and packaging, making the fake accessories appear authentic. The fake products were reportedly sourced from Mumbai through several marketing agents who helped distribute them across the region.
The four have been charged under the Copyright Act for violating intellectual property rights and cheating customers by selling these knockoffs for quick profits. Authorities pointed out that the sellers knowingly dealt in counterfeit items, using sophisticated packaging to fool buyers, hurting Apple’s brand reputation and cheating unsuspecting customers.
This bust sends a clear message: Hyderabad police are serious about tackling fake electronics that threaten consumer safety and trust. They also promised to keep up their efforts to protect both buyers and honest businesses.
For consumers, the takeaway is to stick to authorized dealers and Apple-certified stores when buying mobile accessories. Fake products not only perform poorly but can also be risky.
This raid is a significant step forward in fighting the counterfeit market in Hyderabad and making sure shoppers get the real deal, and the protection they deserve.
