After trying out the new affordable beauty rival, my face felt incredibly soft, clean and had a really healthy glow, which is exactly what I look for in a cleanser

Is this £15 shopper-loved cleanser really as good as Elemis? I put it to the test to find out

I am a massive fan of Elemis’ Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm, using it religiously every night to take my makeup off. It’s become a cult staple in my skincare arsenal, and all of the rival’s I’ve tried – including Superdrug and Aldi – simply haven’t come close.

The only problem is that, if you want to get the most bang for your buck, you have to go for the largest size, which comes in at a slightly eye-watering £49 for 100g, or £83 for 200g. However, shoppers are saying that Makeup Revolution’s latest launch is ‘better’ than the iconic celeb-loved cleanser – and less than half the price.

The beauty brand has become known for their affordable and viral dupe-worthy products, with their Miracle Cream having been likened to the much more expensive Charlotte Tilbury Magic Cream, and now, their beauty fans are raving about the Revolution Pro Miracle Vegan Cleansing Balm, which has launched online at £15 at Revolution and Lookfantastic.

I love Elemis and didn’t expect to enjoy this affordable Revolution alternative as much as I did

The balm has been developed with skin-loving ingredients, including Vegan Collagen which helps to hydrate and plump the skin, alongside a nourishing peptide complex and a blend of essential oils which helps to calm the skin. It’s designed to melt away makeup, SPF and impurities to leave it feeling hydrated, silky smooth, clean, and nourished. But could it really measure up to my all-time favourite Elemis cleanser? I put it to the test to find out.

Opening the Miracle Vegan Collagen Cleansing Balm I was excited to see it comes with a cleansing cloth, however, I soon realised that the cloth was relatively small compared to what I usually use, and has a slightly odd waterproof feel to it, so it doesn’t actually work very effectively instead smearing makeup around the face rather than removing it. That said, the second I ditched it in favour of one of my regular reusable cloths, the results were much better.

Scooping the balm from the tub, I immediately noticed its luxurious texture – it’s a little more ‘solid’ than Elemis and not quite as buttery, but still incredibly smooth and it melted effortlessly onto my skin as I massaged it in, dissolving my makeup and making pretty light work of it, too.

The scent of the Elemis cleanser is what sets it apart from competitors and makes it instantly recognisable. I’d know that fragrance anywhere. Revolution’s balm does have a scent, but it’s super subtle, and while I do love the spa-like experience of Elemis, others say they prefer that it’s ‘not overpowering’.

When you add water to the formula, it turns into a gorgeous milky consistency which continues to work away makeup and feels really nourishing on the skin. After rinsing off the balm, my face felt incredibly soft, clean and had a really healthy glow, which is exactly what I look for in a cleanser.

After using the Revolution Pro Miracle Cleansing Balm my skin was left glowing

It’s not just me that loves it, either. Revolution shared the news of the launch of their new Cleansing Balm on their socials and beauty fans have been going crazy for it ever since. Likening it to the Elemis Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm, one commented, “A copy of Elemis?” and another said, “I need a dupe for Elemis.”

Others have also been raving about the launch with one comment saying: “OMG!!! A CLEANSING BALM OH I NEED” and another saying, “Look at that buttery goodness”.

And the reviews from those who have bought it continue to speak for themselves, with nothing but five-star reviews across all of its current retailers.

One said: “AMAZING! Half the price of Elemis and better. I woke up so glowy and moisturised I couldn’t believe it ! This balm is an amazing dupe and for such a good price. Totally recommend I will be buying again!”

“So soft and creamy, makeup slides off leaving skin soft and supple,” said another, with a third adding: “As someone who loves luxury and has used the expensive alternative for years this is a wonderful dupe it’s fragrance is not as overwhelming and is a steal at this price point. The only difference I can feel is it’s a little more heavy and it’s not got that tingly feeling you get from the alternative.”

For me, the Revolution Pro Miracle Vegan Cleansing Balm has earned its place in my skincare routine. While the Elemis Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm is still very much my number one, I’ll definitely be reaching for this the moment I run out in order to save myself some money. At just £15, it’s a steal compared to its high-end counterpart making it an effective, luxurious, and budget-friendly option for those looking to update their skincare routine for spring.

And if previous launches are anything to go by, we can certainly expect to see this cleansing balm go viral and potentially sell out, so we’d recommend trying it before TikTok finds out. The Revolution Pro Miracle Vegan Cleansing Balm is available here at Revolution Beauty and at Lookfantastic.
