If red was the color of winter and fall, butter yellow is the hue of spring and summer. Recent runway collections from the likes of Bevza, Sandy Liang, JW Anderson, and Burberry dictated it as such, and now, It girls have followed.
This week, Jennifer Lawrence was the A-lister on our radars who embraced the sunny color. The actor was photographed out in New York City in a layered look perfect for transitioning from cool to warm weather.
The base of the ’fit was an easy tank in a dreamy buttery yellow hue, and classic straight-leg blue jeans. Over the tank, Lawrence wore a sweet little black sweater buttoned only at the top, and a long trench coat in a greenish-gray tone.
Lawrence cinched her jeans with a black leather belt and finished her outfit with yellow accessories to match her top: mustard-yellow Vans sneakers, and an electric lemon handbag. She also added on some diamond stud earrings and her go-to sunglasses: Versace’s Biggie hexagonal shades featuring thick black rims and orangey-yellow lenses. She wore her hair down and seemed to have on minimal, glowy makeup, including a glossy lip.
Other stars who’ve recently gotten in on the butter yellow moment include Emily Ratajkowski, who stepped out in a faux leather jacket in the creamy hue earlier this month; Selena Gomez, who showed off her butter-yellow mani on Instagram; and Aubrey Plaza, who wore the color to the Emmys via a silky Loewe dress that social media decided looked like a Post-It note.
