AMAZON has announced it will stop supporting a popular product from today – with millions of devices affected.
Owners have been urged to check if their model is being impacted.

Amazon has ended support for its pre-2013 Kindles from today (May 20), with more than two million devices affected by the change.
Owners of older Kindle models, including the Kindle 5 and the Kindle Paperwhite, will no longer be able to purchase, download or borrow new books.
The devices will be cut off from the Kindle store and cloud syncing, which will essentially halt any new features or bug fixes being added to the e-readers.
Around nine Kindles and four Fire tablets have been named as those being axed, including the first-ever device released in 2007.
The retail giant said that any attempt to factory reset or de-register the old devices will also render them unusable, where owners will no longer be able to sign back in.
However, any books that users have previously purchased will remain accessible in the Kindle App library.
Although Amazon says the change will only affect 3% of Kindle owners, the news has triggered backlash from fans of the e-reader, who have said thousands of devices are now destined for landfills.
One outraged owner commented: “I don’t want their support. I just want the device I bought with good money to work. They have zero right to cripple something I own.”
Another added: “Of course these companies do not want to support devices for very long because they want you to buy them again. It does nothing to help the planet.”
In response, the company has offered users 20% off select new Kindles, as well a discount for those trading in their devices using Amazon’s recycling scheme.
An Amazon spokesperson said: “These models have been supported for at least 14 years—some as long as 18 years—but technology has come a long way in that time, and these devices will no longer be supported moving forward. We are notifying those still actively using them and offering promotions to help with the transition to newer devices.”
