The jewelry store is located in the downtown area of Kutztown, a city in eastern Pennsylvania.
The Dunkelberger family established the business in 1947, and Springer and his wife Jane bought it in 1990.
Jane had industry experience, having worked at luxury jewelry company Bailey Banks & Biddle prior to purchasing Dunkelberger’s, Jim told National Jeweler.
The store sells a variety of diamond and gemstone pieces, as well as bridal jewelry and some watches.
Jim, 74, told National Jeweler he has enjoyed his work for more than 35 years but decided to retire because he is ready to enjoy himself and the rest of his “good years.”
The store posted to its Facebook page on Thursday announcing Jim’s retirement and addressing its community, stating, “Thank you for your loyalty, friendship, and support over the years.”
The retailer is hosting a going-out-of-business sale through June 27, offering discounts of up to 70 percent off.
The store is located at 281 W Main Street.
