“The scene has now been closed, and there remains no risk to the wider public”
Police have issued an update after a large search operation was launched at an Oldham beauty spot.
Witnesses reported seeing specialist search teams scouring the car park and foot paths at Tandle Hill Country Park in Royton on Wednesday afternoon (March 26) and Thursday morning (March 27).
Previously, police confirmed a search was taking place but did not provide any additional information.
Officers have now revealed they were searching for ‘stolen property’ in a section of the beauty spot.
The force say they have now closed the scene, and there ‘remains no risk to the wider public’.
In a statement, Greater Manchester Police said: “Over the last three days, police have been conducting a search for stolen property in a section of Tandle Hill Country Park in Oldham.

“The scene has now been closed, and there remains no risk to the wider public.
“We would like to thank the community for their cooperation whilst we closed a small section of what we know is an important public space to them.”
