The Danish royal family have been busily attending a series of birthday celebration events over this past week. But despite none of them being for youngest family member Princess Josephine, the teenage royal has emerged as an unlikely star.

First, there were two lavish public celebrations in honour of Queen Mary and King Frederik X’s eldest daughter Princess Isabella coming of age, followed by Queen Margrethe marking her 85th birthday on Wednesday.

Throughout it all, royal watchers couldn’t help but notice that the King and Queen’s youngest daughter Princess Josephine, 14, has suddenly come into her own and is shining brightly on the royal stage.

‘Princess Josephine is [a] beautiful, stunning young lady and Princess,’ raved one comment on a royal fan page.

Princess Josephine is the youngest child of Queen Mary and King Frederik’s four children and is also the twin of Prince Vincent.

Josephine, whose official title is the Countess of Monpezat, suddenly appeared all grown up when she stepped out at the recent succession of royal birthday celebrations.

The teen princess made a head-turning appearance at her older sister Princess Isabella’s gala concert event on Tuesday.

She joined Prince Vincent, older brother Crown Prince Christian, 19, parents King Frederik, 56, and Queen Mary, 52, to celebrate her big sister Princess Isabella at a special birthday performance held at The Royal Theatre’s Old Stage in Copenhagen.

Birthday girl Isabella, who turns 18 on Easter Monday, was the belle of the ball in a sparkling full skirt dress gown by Danish designer, Jesper Høvring.

But little sister Josephine was also extremely chic at the celebration wearing a dark blue jumpsuit with caped sequin sleeves made by the same Danish designer.

Her striking look both complimented her sister’s attire while also making a modern statement.

‘Josephine is wearing a beautiful jumpsuit that is age appropriate for this gala,’ commented one fan.

And taking a leaf out of her mother’s fashion playbook of upcycling her outfits, other fans noted that Josephine was wearing the same ‘jumpsuit she wore for Christian’s 18th birthday, with embellishments added’.

That wasn’t the only similarity to Queen Mary noted by royal watchers.

With her long flowing hair, high cheek bones and demure smile, Josephine is increasingly looking like a mini-me of her Australian-born mother.

‘Josephine takes after her beautiful mother,’ a Danish royal fan wrote.

The young royal was also a standout a few days earlier at Princess Isabella’s birthday concert at Aarus City Hall on 11 April.

On that occasion, Princess Josephine donned an elegant cream blazer over a white blouse paired with wide-fit navy trousers.

In a sweet nod to her mother, Josephine added a sentimental accessory by wearing her mother’s Georg Jensen daisy brooch on her lapel.

Josephine’s most recent stylish appearance was at the 85th birthday celebrations of her grandmother, Queen Margrethe on Wednesday.

The Danish royal family gathered at their country abode, Fredensborg Palace, to celebrate the octogenarian former monarch.

As the Danish royal family emerged outside on the palace steps for a family photo, Josephine looked brilliant in a tweed blazer worn over a black floral Dolce & Gabbanna dress.

Royal style spotters noted that the designer dress was borrowed straight from her mother’s closet, as Mary had previously worn the dress at royal engagements.

Princess Josephine is fourth in the line of succession to the throne after all of her older siblings.

She currently attends Kildegård Private School in Gentofte, but once she comes of age and finishes her studies, Josephine is likely to become an integral royal family member attending engagements and representing the crown.

Because Josephine is unlikely to ever be monarch, she is likely to also be able to lead a private life and career outside of her royal commitments.

Judging by her recent royal engagement appearances, the young royal is already emerging as one to watch.
