The weather is not stopping people from having a good time
Planning your outfit for the Aintree Randox Grand National is among the biggest challenges for men and women across Liverpool. The weather is always unpredictable, some years the sun is cracking the flags and in other years you will have to brave the blustery windy weather.
This week started off promising, unfortunately conditions have become increasingly more unsettled as the week has progressed. Rain has fallen over Aintree racecourse today forcing many racegoers to run for cover but it hasn’t dampened the spirits of the punters. People are still smiling and enjoying themselves.
One of the main accessories spotted at the racecourse this year has been umbrellas, of all shapes and sizes. Racegoers are well aware that the heavens can open anytime on the course and came prepared.
The unsettled weather is forecast to last throughout the three-day festival. Showers will become more widespread and winds will strengthen. From Friday and into the weekend, the weather becomes increasingly unsettled, with blustery conditions developing.
In BBC’s weather forecast for Liverpool today, it said: “This afternoon will be breezy and unsettled with scattered showers flowing in from the north west along with some sunny breaks in between. Becoming mostly dry with late sunshine this evening.
“Tonight is expected to begin mostly clear and dry with winds gradually easing. Clear skies will become replaced by increasing amounts of cloud from the south west through the early hours.”
Looking ahead to Saturday and through to Monday, the forecaster said: “Cloudy with patchy rain early on Saturday morning, turning sunny in the afternoon but with a few isolated showers. Windy. Sunday will begin cloudy, turning mainly sunny later, but the scattered showers may develop at times. Monday will see the odd shower, but there should also be a good deal of sunshine.”
It is quite the contrast to the staple accessory of last year, which was sunglasses. The men and women who have attended day one at Aintree look fantastic today and have all made a huge effort for the occasion.
