Argos has opened pre-orders for Switch 2 consoles, games and accessories. If you’ve got your pre-order in, this is a nice chance to pick some extra bits and pieces, such as Micro SD cards and games, and if you’ve not been lucky to get an Currys, Smyths or Amazon pre-order already then this is a good chance to tick this box too.

The prices here are also fairly competitive with what we’ve seen from other retailers, with cheaper Micro SD Express cards than are offered on Amazon, for example – which is why we’ve written up these official Switch 2 memory cards in a separate article.

All told, there are 13 items on offer, including two consoles – one for the unit itself, the other with Mario Kart – plus two controllers, one camera, two Micro SD Express memory cards and five games – Zelda Breath of the Wild, Zelda Tears of the Kingdom, Donkey Kong Bananza, Super Mario Party Jamboree and Kirby and the Forgotten Land.

In terms of recommendations, I’d suggest that the Switch 2 Mario Kart bundle makes more sense than buying the game separately, and the Pro controller is worth picking up too – though only if you plan on playing more intricate games like Zelda or Hades and you don’t already have an OG Switch Pro controller, which will work with the new console too.

Finally, a Micro SD Express card makes a lot of sense, given the limited 256GB of storage space in the Switch 2 itself, of which not everything will be available for game installs. You also might want to wait to see if 512GB or even larger memory cards are available at a reasonable price before pre-orders start. Note that regular Micro SD cards aren’t compatible with the new Switch; you need these super-fast Express cards specifically.
