The product: Benjamin Gordon bags.
Why we love it: Canadian designer Elizabeth Hardy has built a following for the vegan-friendly accessories offered through her brand, Espe.
Expanding the business into a family affair, Hardy tapped into the design talent of her son, Ben Pollex, to create a new line of “utility-inspired, versatile and stylish men’s bags” called Benjamin Gordon.
The collection, which includes a crossbody bag, backpack and more, was borne from Pollex’s frustration with what he felt was a lack of stylish-yet-simple accessory options for men.
“I understand the struggle of men who want a bag that is not only functional but also aligns with their sense of masculinity,” he says. Starting with the Art Crossbody bag as his first design, Pollex planned for versatility with the pieces.

“I wanted something that I would carry everyday with jeans or sweats but could also look elevated with a suit or a formal outfit,” he says. “The Art is the perfect size and shape that covers all occasions.”
As for working with his mother on the launch, Pollex admits the project has been a “journey in itself.”
“She makes it look so easy, but as I am learning there is so much that goes into starting a brand,” Pollex says. “Having a solid family foundation and knowing the sky is the limit for my brand makes the future very exciting for Benjamin Gordon.”
The price: $28 to $110.
The retailer: Benjamingordon.ca.
