Chinese EV giant BYD has revealed the updated BYD Atto 3 electric SUV globally. The new model gets minor cosmetic changes, a larger touchscreen, additional features, new colour options and more. However, the EV remains mechanically unchanged. The BYD Atto 3 is one of the highest-selling EV in from the company in several markets, including India.
The new model features a new ‘Cosmos Black’ paint scheme and the chrome window surround and the silver textured D-pillar trim have also been blacked out. The rear now features a shortened ‘BYD’ lettering, replacing the ‘Build Your Dreams’ logo and it also gets newly designed 18-inch alloy wheels.
Moving inside, the Atto 3 now features a new black-blue interior colour scheme and it also gets a larger 15.6-inch infotainment screen borrowed from the recently launched Seal EV replacing the 12.3-inch unit. The EV now also gets an ‘intelligent start’ system, which will let the driver start the car by pressing the brake pedal.
Mechanically, the EV remains unchanged. It gets a 60.5 kWh battery pack paired with a front-axle mounted electric motor which puts out 201hp of power and 310Nm of torque. It has a claimed range of 521 km and the EV can sprint from 0-100kph in 7.3 seconds. The battery can be charged using a 7kW Type 2 AC charger in around 10 hours and using an 80kW fast charger takes around 50 minutes to go from 0-80 percent.
