Ludhiana: Khanna police have booked a man for allegedly demanding a luxury car as dowry from his wife. The accused is Kush Verma of Shimlapuri area in Ludhiana, against whom his wife Navneet Kaur has lodged a complaint. Daughter of an assistant sub-inspector, Navneet told the police that she had married Kush on Feb 17, 2019, and both families knew each other’s caste at the time of marriage. She claimed that about Rs 13 lakh was spent on her wedding ceremony, but within one month of marriage, her husband started demanding dowry and asked her to seek a luxury car from her father. The complainant alleged that she was also assaulted, tortured, and subjected to racist slur.
