CHANDIGARH: Amritsar will soon have autos operated by women as municipal commissioner Harpreet Singh on Friday announced that the proposal for a ‘pink auto scheme’ has been approved.
Under the scheme, women in Amritsar would gain access to e-autos subsidized by 90%, presenting a unique opportunity for economic empowerment while championing clean transportation solutions.
As part of the convening organized under the Clean Air Better Health Program supported by USAID, and spearheaded by the Council on Energy, Environment, and Water (CEEW), Asar, and CleanAir Punjab, the initiative garnered enthusiasm from over 200 women eager to drive e-autos in Amritsar.
