Kolkata: ED on Thursday seized three cars, all priced above Rs 20 lakh, registered in the names of Sandeshkhali strongman Sheikh Shahjahan, his brother Alamgir and a Punjab-based company.According to sources, ED officials began searches at Shahjahan’s residence on Thursday morning. The car belonging to Shahjahan, which has a market price of Rs 20 lakh, was bought two years ago. The one registered in Alamgir’s name, priced above Rs 24 lakh, was purchased last year. The other car was found in the Sarberia warehouse of the Sandeshkhali leader’s aide, Moslem Sheikh.The agency had earlier attached properties worth over Rs 12 crore in connection with its investigation into the alleged ration scam. These included land and residential buildings belonging to Shahjahan. tnn
