A BRAND-new futuristic EV van with a 375-mile range has been unveiled – a potential rival to VW’s famous electric van.

The PV5 by South Korean brand Kia is expected to come in at under £30,000 – about half the price of the iconic VW ID Buzz.

It is the company’s first-ever van – and will kick off its brand-new line of “Platform Beyond Vehicles” (PBVs).

The vehicle has so far been showcased in two versions – cargo and passenger.

The cargo van appears to have a boxy profile and twin side-opening tailgate doors, for loading and unloading.

Meanwhile, the passenger variant features a single lift up tailgate and long, sleek window design.

Both versions have swanky black detailing – from the wheel arches to the rocker panels.

And pictures also suggest there will be split instrument and infotainment display screens – unlike the Kia’s cars, which have a combined fascia.

Further features have not yet been announced, but experts have predicted the van will have the same 201bhp and 209lb ft motor as the EV3 car – while also matching its acceleration capability (0-60mph in 7.6 seconds).

Aside from the passenger and cargo vans, further derivatives are set to be revealed at an EV event in Spain on February 24.

Fans can then expect more details on the PV5’s design and product features on February 27.

Following its big reveal in Europe, the van is set to make its UK debut at the Commercial Vehicle show in Birmingham, which starts on April 29.

Deliveries will then begin around October.

Meanwhile, Kia has also announced it will be launching a larger version of the PV5 – the PV7 – in two years’ time.

However, it is not yet clear how many seats the van will have.

It comes after VW announced plans to launch a budget “China-killer” EV to compete in the booming electric market overseas.

The “quality” electric vehicle will cost just £16,700 and go into production from 2027.

Images of ID.1 were shared by the company earlier this month.

But, a car expert told the Telegraph that the German giant would struggle to rival its Chinese competitors.

They said: “Chinese brands are super competitive. For example, you can already pick up a new MG5 today for under £20,000 by shopping around.

“Where will they be in three years’ time? VW really has its work cut out.”

Chinese car brand to rival Tesla with more affordable EV hitting UK in weeks – it even slows after reading road signs

A NEW Chinese car brand that could rival Tesla will begin rolling out affordable EVs in the UK in a matter of weeks.

The tech-focused vehicle can automatically slow down when passing a sign that suggests the speed limit on the road has changed.

Solihull‘s International Motors has plans to begin importing Xpeng’s new G6 car which could undercut the Tesla Model Y.

Chinese firm Xpeng’s new motor has been designed by the world-renowned JuanMa Lopez who was responsible for leading on the Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder.

The all-electric SUV has been dubbed a “direct alternative to Elon Musk‘s world-beating family crossover” by AutoCar.

Despite the market becoming saturated with various EVs in recent years, the G6 looks to be a contender against the Tesla model for a fraction of the price.
