The 2024 Lincoln Nautilus’ emphasis on technology reflects not only where Ford’s luxury division is headed, but where much of automotive industry will be going in the coming years. Lincoln redesigned the 2024 Nautilus from the ground up, with clear goals from the very beginning of that process. The company wanted the Nautilus to incorporate its new global production and sales goals, the need for higher fuel efficiency standards, and ever-elevating customer expectations. These efforts are easy to spot in the 2024 Nautilus’ design, engineering, and final execution.

Lightweight Structure, Impressive Fuel Efficiency

If you’ve been waiting for the benefits of advanced, lightweight materials and manufacturing processes to deliver lower vehicle curb weights, the 2024 Lincoln Nautilus looks to (finally) herald this evolution. We’ve all watched cars get bigger and heavier over the past 20 years, but the new Nautilus weighs in at a — relatively — flyweight of 4,349 pounds for the gasoline model and 4,517 pounds for the hybrid. As a spacious, two-row luxury SUV featuring one of the plushest interiors on the market, not to mention a wealth of advanced technology, those are impressive numbers.

Lower weight improves everything, from driving dynamics to safety to fuel efficiency. In the Nautilus’ case, that last factor is the most impressive. The 2.0-liter turbo four engine in the gas version offers 250 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque while delivering 21 city mpg, 29 highway mpg, and 24 combined mpg. The hybrid combines that same engine with an electric motor and battery pack to deliver 310 horsepower, 295 lb-ft of torque, and 30 city mpg, 31 highway mpg, and 30 mixed mpg. Once again, for a luxury SUV with standard all-wheel drive, those are impressive numbers.

Driving Dynamics Stay True to Lincoln’s Brand

Lincoln has redefined itself over the past 5 years, from an American luxury brand trying to chase European style and driving dynamics, to an American luxury brand reflecting — get this — American luxury. That means prioritizing uncompromised comfort and refinement over zero-to-60 times and lateral Gs. The 2024 Nautilus continues this philosophy, offering a relaxed driving demeanor with precise — but never rushed — throttle and steering response. The hybrid, featuring a continuously variable transmission, feels particularly relaxed under heavy throttle.

Performance enthusiasts probably won’t be satisfied with the Nautilus’ personality, but that’s not Lincoln’s target demographic. The new Nautilus is being produced in China, and will be sold in that market as well as the U.S. Focusing on comfort and tech gives the Nautilus greater appeal to both Chinese buyers and younger U.S. consumers. Features like 24-way power seats, 43.1 inches of rear legroom (the most in its segment), acoustic glass, and active noise cancellation elevate the Nautilus’ comfort quotient. And when it comes to tech…

Nautilus Offers 48 Inches of Widescreen Display

Consumers seeking the latest in digital display technology will find it in the 2024 Lincoln Nautilus, where a the company’s 48-inch panoramic screen sweeps from A-pillar to A-pillar at the base of the windshield. Combining the safety and functional benefits of a head-up, eyes-up display with customizable information panels across this digital horizon, the panoramic screen works remarkably well. Utilizing large fonts, just below the driver’s sight line, means a quick glance is all that’s required to get speed, navigation, weather, entertainment, or driver-assist information.

The panoramic display is paired with an 11.1-inch central touchscreen. This screen is where drivers and passengers can personalize the upper display and control a wide range of features and technology. Lincoln has integrated Google Assistant and Google maps, along with Alexa in-vehicle controls, allowing the navigation system, media options, and climate control to be operated by voice. Apple CarPlay with Siri voice control is another option. Spotify, Amazon Music, Audible, Sirius XM, and the Google Play store are embedded in the Nautilus, making them available without a phone.

Lincoln’s Advanced Technology Even Smells Good…

The Nautilus’ emphasis on technology, combined with its 5G connectivity and over-the-air updates, will allow future enhancements in the form of web browsing (with a Bluetooth-connected keyboard), video streaming of YouTube and Prime Video, and video conferencing for business or personal calls. If that’s still not enough tech, an optional Lincoln Digital Scent feature can introduce various aromas to the cabin, including Mystic Forest, Ozonic Azure, and Violet Cashmere. Four additional scents can be purchased after buyers take delivery of their Nautilus.

Starting Price Between $50,415 and $74,250

The 2024 Lincoln Nautilus will be offered in three trim levels, with the base “Premiere” starting at $50,415, the mid-grade “Reserve” at $54,750, and the top-tier “Black Label” priced at $74,250. None of these prices include a $1,595 destination charge. The Nautilus’ headline technology, its 48-inch panoramic display screen, along with wireless phone charging, heated and ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel, a 10-speaker audio system, “Phone As A Key” convenience, and driver-assist safety technology comes standard, even on the base Premiere trim.

Opting for the hybrid drivetrain adds $1,500, while Ford’s BlueCruise hands-free highway driving tech will be free for between 90 days (on base Premiere trim) and 4 years (on Black Label models), but then require a subscription. Audiophiles will likely want to consider the upgraded Revel audio systems (up to 28 speakers in the Black Label), while the “Jet Appearance Package” offered on Reserve and Black Label trims adds black exterior accents and larger 22-inch wheels. The 2024 Lincoln Nautilus is already at dealerships and available for ordering.
