Total sales of Toyota Kirloskar Motor India Pvt. Ltd. grew by a third over the previous year as rebadging of Maruti Suzuki’s cars continued to bear fruit.
The maker of the Innova and Fortuner utility vehicles sold 20,492 units in April 2024 as against 15,510 units a year ago—a year-on-year growth of 32%, according to a company statement on Wednesday. Domestic sales accounted for 18,700 units while exports totalled 1,794 units.
“The growth momentum was sustained despite a week-long maintenance shutdown from April 6-14 for the upkeep of machinery and equipment to sustain operational efficiencies, productivity and safety,” the carmaker said.
On year-to-date basis, total sales rose 48% year-on-year to 97,503 units.
“Our diversified portfolio has been instrumental in driving our growth,” Sabari Manohar, vice president (sales) at Toyota Kirloskar, said in the statement. “The recent addition to our SUV lineup, the All-New Urban Cruiser Taisor, further reflects our commitment to meeting evolving market demands.”
