As the days continue to roll on and the coronavirus outbreak continues to spread, folks are coming to the realization that they may be stuck inside their homes or confined to their apartments due to the threat of COVID-19 growing in Oregon and across the world. If you’ve been following the latest updates on the coronavirus, you’ve likely heard the frequent pleas from state and federal government officials about social distancing, staying home, avoiding crowds and performing good hygiene habits.

While staying at home may seem easy through the first couple of days, many folks out there will begin to suffer from cabin fever as days turn into weeks and weeks turn to months. With that in mind, we’re taking a look at a few items to help you get through the doldrums of social distancing.

The Nintendo Switch

The Switch is one of the most versatile gaming systems out there. Both as a portable device and as a console that is easy to hook up to your home TV, the Switch has a good collection of available games and the Nintendo Switch Online service is just $20/year. A subscription to that service includes an incredible catalog of classic Nintendo and Super Nintendo games that you can play for free.

Unfortunately, many folks had the same idea and Nintendo Switches are already sold out in many online stores. However, you can still buy some of the older models of the Switch that have a longer battery life, but they will just cost you a little more than the newer models. If you decide to pick up a Nintendo Switch, here are three games I would highly recommend for kids and adults alike:

Just Dance 2020 – Yes, it’s a video game, but it’s an active one that will get your heart pumping. With this one you can hook the Switch up to your TV and then detach the controllers. Pick a song and dance along with the routine shown on screen with the controller in hand and the console tracks your movement to tally your score. You can play with two people at the same time (or more if you buy extra controllers).

Zelda Breath of the Wild – Widely considered one of the best games ever made on any platform, this game will keep you occupied for what could be countless hours. It is a massive, open-world game in which you can follow a storyline and/or complete side missions along the way.

FIFA 20 – If you are a sports gaming nerd, FIFA is pretty much unbeatable in terms of how fun it is to play. You can play online with a friend anywhere in the world or build your own team up on career mode. Maybe you can even win MLS Cup with the Portland Timbers. If you’re not a soccer fan, grab NBA 2K20 and win a title with the Portland Trail Blazers.

The Disney Plus, Hulu and ESPN Plus Bundle

Disney Plus gets you a robust library of all available Disney movies, TV shows, documentaries and more. That includes all of the Marvel films and Disney Channel shows to keep you and your kids glued to the couch for quite awhile. Hulu gets you a slew of films and original content like Emmy and Golden Globe-winning show The Handmaid’s Tale. While there isn’t much in the way of live sports available to watch right now, ESPN Plus will have every UFC Fight Night event to watch live as well as an entire catalog of top boxing events, MMA fights, classic soccer matches and more.

My favorite things to watch currently available on Disney Plus include The Mandalorian, The Simpsons and Frozen II, which was just added to the service months early. Here are 8 of the best things to watch on Disney+ from our TV reporter:

Fujifilm Instax Mini 9 Instant Film Camera
