Last weekend, the Chicago Sun-Times newspaper’s ‘Best of Summer’ pull-out supplement featured a guide to summer books using real authors – and made-up books that they did not write.
The discrepancy came about because the person who generated the article used AI to give them a list of books by the authors. The fake guide was syndicated, meaning it was published to millions of people in different markets.
