Amazon has quietly discontinued a beloved Alexa gadget dubbed the “best Echo so far”. Amazon is ending one of its popular Alexa devices after making Echo speakers with the famed Alexa voice assistant since way back in 2014.
Amazon has discontinued the Dot with Clock in favour of a more expensive, less eye-pleasing model. “You can check the product page for the latest device availability, but once inventory of this generation Echo Dot with Clock is sold through it will not be restocked,” Amazon spokesperson Liz Roland told the Verge in the US this week.
The standard Echo Dot without a clock on it is unaffected. Amazon didn’t explain why it has decided to axe the product. However, it is constantly adjusting the line-up.

In a gushing review online, a Amazon fan and shopper typed: “I use this Echo Dot in my bedroom so the time display is great. The light on the bottom is nice when it is engaged, and the sound is clear and ample enough to stream music. Great value and so cute!”
In a second five-star review, a second wrote: “This echo dot was purchased for my bedroom so that I would have a clock and a radio at the same time. It is absolutely amazing! Great sound quality and the lights on the clock are bright so that I can see them during the night!”
And another five-star review reads: “I was immediately drawn to the Cloud Blue hue of my new Echo Dot with clock because of how softly it injects a burst of energy into any room. The device’s compact size makes it suitable for use in any room of the house, from the bedroom to the kitchen. Amazon’s commitment to offering products that complement a wide range of aesthetic preferences is reflected in the subtlety of this one.”
