TWO homeless men have been jailed after stealing two cars, alcohol and electric gadgets from a home in Wokingham and another in Reading.
Luke How, aged 25, of no fixed abode and Jamie Smart, aged 22, of no fixed abode pleaded guilty to two counts of burglary and two counts of theft of a motor vehicle at a hearing at Reading Crown Court on Monday, June 17.
They were sentenced to four years, six months’ imprisonment each.
Thames Valley Police said that they were found guilty of two thefts that occurred in Crocus Way, Wokingham and Basingstoke Road, Reading on Thursday, May 9.
In the raids, two cars, electronic items and a large quantity of alcohol was stolen.
How and Smart were arrested on the same day and charged on Friday, May 10.
Case Investigator Claire Morgan, based at Loddon Valley police station, said: “Burglary is an invasive crime that can have a serious effect on victims.
“I hope these sentences highlight the consequences of this type of offence and reflects how seriously Thames Valley Police take burglary and theft as we work tirelessly to bring offenders to justice.
“I would urge anyone who witnesses a burglary to call 999 if it is taking place or 101 if it has already happened.”
