The Finals Season 2 New Gadgets & Weapons
Mobility Is The Focus In Season 2
The biggest changes coming to Season 2 of The Finals will surely shake the meta’s foundation as people know it. Season 2 will introduce a variety of new mobility Gadgets and abilities, including the Gateway, Dematerializer, Data Reshaper, and Anti-Gravity Cube. These Gadgets and abilities change the battlefield’s landscape, with the Gateway serving as a two-way grenade-like thrown portal that teammates (or anyone) can use to transport themselves to a point of interest instantly.
The Dematerializer and Data Reshaper quite literally change elements on the map and can be used to create holes in the fabric of reality. Practically, the Dematerlaizer can be used to remove walls or floors, which can be utilized to more easily access cash vaults and steal the cashout from another team. Lastly, while probably the least impressive or useful but the most fun, the Anti-Gravity Cube is a Heavy Gadget that can be used to create a low-gravity field in a specific area. These new items should be a great addition to the best Gadgets that exist currently.
Even during the short preview period, many people were discovering new and creative ways to utilize the latest additions to great effect.
Season 2 of The Finals also introduces a new weapon for each class, including the 93R machine pistol, Famas, and KS-23 slug shotgun for Light, Medium, and Heavy classes, respectively. The 93R is a quick-fire burst pistol that’s great for lining up headshots and taking out enemies from medium-to-close range. It’s a great addition to the Light class’ arsenal, as it lacks many medium-range options outside the sniper rifle.
10 Things The Finals Does Better Than Other FPS Games
The Finals is a brand-new F2P first-person shooter holding its open beta and has a ton of things that other FPS games seem to seriously lack.
The Famas is also a nice introduction to the Medium’s suite of guns and specializations, as it comes accompanied by a shorter-range scope that lends itself better at a distance than the default AK. Finally, the new KS-23 slug shotgun for Heavies should be a game changer, as its close-range capabilities give the tanks an option other than melee for those who like to get up close and personal.
A Futuristic Digital Landscape Is Introduced
SYS$HORIZON Is A Welcome Addition
The introduction of SYS$HORIZON is a big departure from the traditional maps found in The Finals. Season 2 truly embraces concepts derived from the digital world, and the new map represents this fully. While the maps from Season 1 better illustrate the greed and indulgence of humanity with maps like Las Vegas and Monaco, SYS$HORIZON places players in a TRON-like environment, aptly described by a writer from another publication as “what the 80s thought the future would look like.“
The map creates an even more arena-shooter feeling, as hyper-realistic components of modern-day cities and towns are replaced with multi-colored cubes and non-descript fluorescent surfaces. Overall, it’s a refreshing departure that feels apt for the core of what Season 2 of The Finals is all about.
A New Frenetic Game Mode Perfect For Quickplay
New Power Shift Game Mode
Another huge change to Season 2 of The Finals is a new game mode called Power Shift, a 5v5 king of the hill mode where two teams battle it for ownership over a floating platform. Though there is probably some tweaking that is required here (as skilled players can camp spawn points), it did result in a frantic, high-tension push-and-pull match at its best. It’s also the first time The Finals is introducing teams of five, which requires even more teamwork and dedicated pushes to reclaim the floating platform and wrestle it away from the other team.
The Finals Season 2 Battle Pass Details
12 Pages Of Earnable Rewards
Season 2 of The Finals comes with a refreshed Battle Pass that comes with 96 unlockable rewards and 1,575 Multibucks that one can potentially earn. Many of the cosmetics fit the futuristic retro theme, with a CRT TV headpiece as one of the cooler options available. The cost for the pass is the same as last year, 1,150 Multibucks (which comes to $9.99) for the entire season, which — if it was anything like the first season, should last a little over three months.
The Finals Season 2 Looks Promising
Prepare For A New Meta
The Finals Season 2 is a promising precursor for the future of the game, as it adds plenty of elements to vary the gameplay enough to revisit the title, even for those who pressed the pause button on it during Season 1. Along with the new mobility gadgets, in many respects, the new weapons fill much-needed holes in gameplay style for each different class. Even during the short preview period, many people were discovering new and creative ways to utilize the latest additions to great effect.
Nothing here is substantially changed in terms of the underlying core gameplay, so existing franchise veterans don’t have anything to worry about other than adjusting to the new weapons and gadgets that may be thrown at them. Ultimately, The Finals Season 2 adds a few new cool things that may have an overall larger impact on how the game is played, and it is certainly worth checking out for those who have been on the fence about it, especially since it’s free to play.
