Amazon shoppers are reportedly ditching pricey coffee machines for a £40 gadget that makes ‘perfect’ Costa and Cadbury drinks. You just can’t beat a good cup of coffee to start your day, especially when you can make top-quality drinks at home.

Buying a high-end coffee machine that makes drinks like those from Costa or Starbucks can be costly, sometimes hundreds or even thousands of pounds. But there’s no need to break the bank when there are many affordable options on the market.

A recent favourite among shoppers has been the Tassimo by Bosch Suny ‘Special Edition’ Coffee Machine. It costs £39.99 and can be bought from Amazon with next-day delivery at no extra cost for Amazon Prime members. Shoppers love it so much they’ve said it’s ‘better than much more expensive machines’ they’ve previously owned.

This budget-friendly coffee machine comes in standard black or a lovely cream colour. It uses coffee pods – just pop in your chosen flavour and press start, according to The Manchester Evening News.

The machine reads the drink’s unique barcode using its Intellibrew technology to make the perfect drink every time. There’s no waiting for it to heat up, making it quick and easy to use. You can set your preferred temperature, volume and intensity to make your favourite drink.

There are over 50 different types of hot drink to choose from, including brands like Costa and Cadbury’s. The Tassimo ‘Special Edition’ Suny Coffee Machine comes with a 0. 8L water tank, big enough to make a few cups of coffee. It cleans itself after each use to stop flavours from mixing and turns off by itself when you’re not using it.

This coffee machine has a great 4. 6 out of 5 stars from over 11,270 reviews. People say it makes the ‘perfect cup of coffee’, just like Costa or more expensive machines, and it’s easy to use.

One Amazon customer said: “After having thrown out a very expensive, complicated to work and expensive to purchase refills pod machine I replaced it with this and it had been the best decision. It is simple to use, the coffee is hotter and the pods of different types are easily come by at any supermarket. It is excellent value for money.”

Another person wrote: “Lovely small coffee machine, bought as a replacement for my old big bulky one. Very happy with it, easy to use and clean, does not take up loads of space.”

Someone else mentioned: “Bought this to add to my kitchen gadgets, it’s sleek and sits perfectly on my counter. It’s simple to use, clean and has a good-size adjuster for different-sized cups and mugs. It might not have all the bells and whistles of the more expensive ones, but at this price it’s logical and you don’t need to go broke to have a fancy coffee machine that does all the same thing.”

Free Amazon Prime membership

As well as getting shoppers exclusive access to the site’s Black Friday sale prices, there’s a host of advantages to Amazon Prime membership including next-day delivery, free Deliveroo and Hello Fresh perks, music, books and Prime Video. Usually £8.99 a month, you can now get a 30-day free trial to get access to the latest deals.

One fan of the Tassimo Suny Coffee Machine called it, “Like having a Costa at home,” adding: “This is one of the best things I’ve ever bought for a number of reasons…. the price is really cheap, it makes a coffee like being in a cafe at home, they even do hot chocolate which is beautiful. It’s so simple to set up which you can use immediately. I absolutely love mine and wouldn’t swap it for anything.”

However, some users had mixed experiences, with one giving a three-star review, stating: “Very disappointed I have trouble getting the machine to work, the button you push is very temperamental sometimes it works straight away another time you have to switch the machine on and off several times, check the pod is inserted correctly, then make sure cup is placed in the right place, very frustrating. Tempted to return but unfortunately, I have destroyed the box. Will carry on for while longer and see if it improves.”

But another user gave it full marks – five out of five stars and described it as: “Excellent coffee maker for the price. Looks great and is quite compact, so not a huge footprint on your kitchen worktop. Easy to set up, easy to clean, fairly quiet in operation and, all importantly, it makes great-tasting coffee. I went with Costa Cappuccino to start and really enjoyed it and at 50p a cup it’s not going to break the bank either. Would highly recommend it to anyone who wants to dabble in the world of Tassimo but doesn’t want to spend a fortune on a higher-end machine.”

“Great little machine,” agreed another. “I’ve had it a few days now and couldn’t be happier… I sort of got used to the cafetiere morning rigmarole but this thing does a better job in about 30 seconds. To be honest, these things are wasted in the kitchen because I’d happily have one on the bedside table and save the hassle of getting out of bed in the morning. Well happy with it.”

Over at Argos, the Nescafe Dolce Gusto Krups Genio S Coffee Pod Machine is available for £70 and the Swan Nordic Pump Espresso Coffee Machine is slightly more expensive at £98. If you have a bit more room in your budget, the Nespresso Vertuo Next Pod Coffee Machine by Magimix comes in at £150.
