The Little Car Company’s latest creation is a child-friendly, 2:3 scale Aston Martin DB5, complete with working James Bond gadgets.
Limited to 125 examples and priced at £90,000 ($125,000) plus taxes, the DB5 is a 66 percent scale replica of James Bond’s favorite car, and is powered by an electric motor.
UK-based The Little Car Company already produces a regular DB5 convertible, designed to be driven by children and adults alike, along with electric scale replicas of the Bugatti Type 35 and Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa.
The latest, gadget-packed creation has been built to celebrate the upcoming release of James Bond’s latest adventure – and Daniel Craig’s last in the title role – No Time To Die.
With more than 20 horsepower and a top speed of over 45mph in its most powerful setting, the James Bond edition of the DB5 Junior features mock mini guns that are deployed from behind the headlights, just as they are in the DB5, freshly modified by MI5’s Q Branch for its latest outing in No Time To Die. Instead of firing bullets, the mini guns move, flash and have sound effects.
Also borrowed from Bond’s updated DB5 are the digital number plates. Replacing the rotating plates used since the DB5 first hit the big screen in 1964’s Goldfinger, the latest car uses a set of digital plates instead. The DB5 Junior uses exactly the same hardware and software as the actual stunt cars used in the No Time To Die movie, and can be customized to show whatever license plates the owner wants.
If your child/miniature spy finds themselves in a car chase, they can evade the enemy by deploying a smoke screen. With the press of a button, smoke is deployed from the mock exhaust of the DB5 Junior, fed from an onboard canister with an hour’s supply – plenty to mask an escape from the bad guys.
Just like the DB5 stunt cars used in the latest movie, the DB5 Junior can perform skids and doughnuts thanks to ‘Skid Mode’. Select the mode, floor the accelerator and light up the rear tires to quickly change direction and make your escape. As with other vehicles from The Little Car Company, the James Bond edition DB5 Junior also has Novice, Expert and Competition drive modes to help make the car accessible for drivers of all ages and experience.
All of these gadgets are accessed via buttons and switches hidden behind a panel on the inside of the passenger door trim. The switchgear is designed to look like that used in the movie. Other details faithfully replicated include the Silver Birch paintwork just like Bond’s car, plus replica Smiths dials on the dashboard, a wooden steering wheel and leather interior. The Little Car Company invites potential customers to register their interest now.
