Alvar Pet, a Helsinki, Finland-based direct-to-consumer pet food brand, announced the acquisition of Verkkokauppa Kivuton, a Finnish online store focusing on pet health.

The amount of the deal was not disclosed.

With the acquisition, Alvar pet will offer a wide range of veterinarian-developed products and diets individually tailored to pets’ needs. Together, the two companies form the largest online store in the Nordics specialised in pet health, offering a wide range of veterinarian-developed products and diets individually tailored to pets’ needs.

Led by CEO Ilari Haataja, Alvar Pet provides individually dog diets, which are designed by veterinarians and nutrition experts. The company specialises in individually feeding plans, which are developed under the leadership of its veterinarian and co-founder Henna Söderholm, utilising an extensive database and machine learning process. Alvar Pet serves more than 40,000 pet households across the Nordic countries, such as Finland, Sweden, and Denmark.

The joint annual sales of the two companies have surpassed 10 million euros, exhibiting a 60 percent annual organic growth rate.
