China’s pet industry players can now tap into a new global supply chain platform exclusively made for them by the Pet Industry Working Committee of the China Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Association.

Called Pet Sourcing China (PSC), the platform aims to help Chinese pet companies gain access to markets overseas by holding international trade exhibitions in China and also sending delegations to similar events abroad. The PSC will also promote knowledge exchanges among Chinese pet industry professionals and their counterparts around the world. Those that have decided to take their brands or expand their factories abroad can expect full-process services from the PSC, which would include import and export policy guidance, international standard certification, market situation consultation, media promotion, and talent consulting services.

Chen Yang, chairman of the Pet Industry Working Committee and president of the China Pet Association, said they set up the PSC with the help of business leaders from Petty Holdings, Zhongpet Holdings, Yiyi Holdings, Tianyuan Pets, Yuanfei Pets, Guabao Pets, Luce Holdings, Lonnuo Pets, Zhongheng Pets, Huasilian, and Bianyi. They also enlisted the support of over 10 leading Chinese pet companies, among them the Boyu Group and Sensen Group, to officially launch the PSC last December.

The PSC will hold in its first international pet fair in Guangzhou, China in November 2024 and, throughout the year, will also send representatives of Chinese pet companies to trade shows abroad. Yang said these engagements can help Chinese companies identify their markets abroad and to link up with import traders and local retailers in target export countries and regions.

“We really hope that the PSC can provide timely and effective assistance for Chinese companies’ products, factories and brands to go overseas,” he added.

This year, the PSC plans to establish more engagements with buyers from emerging pet markets in Southeast Asia, South America, the Middle East, and Russia.

“These are the main markets for PSC in 2024,” said Yang. “The focus is on cross-border e-commerce, overseas e-commerce and channel distribution agents in lower-tier markets.”

The Pet Sourcing China Fair in Guangzhou will bring in traders from emerging pet markets, “which is crucial for Chinese pet brands to take the first step overseas”, Yang said.

“We will help (Chinese) pet brands to understand the cultural customs and market characteristics of potential countries and regions…We will also invite overseas e-commerce companies and buyers to come to the site to see the exhibition,” added Yang.

Yang said the PSC can also organize bilateral negotiations and facilitate cooperation with local traders and pet associations.

The PSC Pet Fair in Guangzhou is expected to have over 500 exhibitors and 2,000 plus international visitors from over 30 countries. It will feature exhibition areas for e-commerce and supply chain, raw materials & additives, business start-ups, green packaging materials and pet fashion design.
