Adopting a pet is a great way to give them a new home after being left on their own, be it by a previous owner passing away or, in some cases, being dumped.
There are several RSPCA branches in the county, along with the affiliated Danaher Animal Home.
If you think you would be able to rehome one of them, go to either the Essex South, Southend & District branch, the South West branch, or the Danaher Animal Home websites for details.

Essex RSPCA: 5 pets on the lookout for their new homes
Daisy
Daisy (Image: RSPCA) Gender – Female
Age – Two years old
Breed – Crossbreed
If you want to adopt Daisy, you can view their full profile here.
Daisy is hoping to find a new home with another friendly and playful dog, but is nervous and can take a little while to warm up to new people.
Ideally, her new home would be somewhere rural, as she is very nervous walking along busy roads due to a road traffic accident last year, where she needed surgery on her hips.
Luckily, she has recovered well and loves running around the fields playing and sniffing. She walks well on the lead, is housetrained and travels well in the car.
Daisy has previously lived with children, so could potentially live with children again over the age of 10 who are used to dogs.
Aslan and Kiara
Aslan and Kiara (Image: RSPCA) Gender – Male and female
Age – Three years old
Breed – Domestic Longhair crossbreed
If you want to adopt Aslan and Kiara, you can view their full profile here.
Aslan and Kiara are a bonded pair with “potential to thrive in a patient, caring home”.
Aslan is outgoing, confident, and always ready to greet you with curiosity and charm. He loves attention, is quick to settle in new environments, and will happily be the first to explore and play.
Kiara is more reserved and timid – once she feels safe, her sweet and gentle nature shines through.
These two are inseparable and bring out the best in each other, which is why the RSPCA is looking for a home where they can stay together.
Shadow

Age – One year old
Breed – Doberman Cross Labrador
If you want to adopt Shadow, you can view their full profile here.
Shadow found his way to Danaher through no fault of his own and is described as a “bundle of energy and affection, getting along great with everyone he meets”.
He’s looking for an experienced owner who understands the joys and responsibilities that come with large-breed dogs.
Shadow is full of life and loves a good romp around, making him the perfect match for someone who appreciates an active lifestyle.
Having lived with children before, Shadow is well-suited to a home with teenagers who are used to the playful antics of a big, bouncy dog.
Larry

Age – 18 months old
Breed – Lurcher
If you want to adopt Larry, you can view their full profile here.
Larry came into care underweight and he had some injuries that needed treatment, but he has recovered brilliantly.
RSPCA says he has come a “very long way” in care and is deserving of his forever home.

Larry travels well and likes to visit new places, he’s friendly and laidback, meeting new people and he likes other dogs.
He can bark at some dogs, but the RSPCA says he is working on this and has picked up training well.
Larry loves to zoom around off lead, and he loves toys. When he’s not busy playing, he loves to snuggle up on a sofa.
