A three-year-old pet sheep had to be put down after two dogs ‘ripped him apart’ in a vicious attack. Owner Megan Gajewski did all she could to save her sheep, Ronnie, by batting the dogs off with a stick.

Heartbroken Megan says the attack only came to an end when the owner of the two lurchers called them back. Megan, 24, cradled Ronnie until the vet arrived at the scene in Clayton, but sadly he had to be put to sleep as his injuries were too severe.

Debra Gajewski, Megan’s mum, says the owner had got in the car and left before she could catch up with them. The 52-year-old said: “We were here and could see into the field. The horses started running around like lunatics.

“When my daughter got down there, there were two dogs ripping Ronnie apart. They were full lurcher hunting-type dogs.

“She was hitting them with a stick and screaming at them. Ronnie put up a good fight. After they ran back to their owner who was a good 200 to 300 yards away.
