UFC legend Mark Coleman’s family recently shared a heartfelt message about their pet’s loss. According to reports, on March 12th (Tuesday morning), the UFC veteran was involved in a heroic effort to save his parents from a fire at his home. It was reported that his dog, Hammer, alerted him about the blaze and Coleman managed to carry his mother and father to safety.

But when he realized that Hammer was still inside, Coleman attempted to go back into the house and rescue the pet. Unfortunately, Coleman lost consciousness during this trip and passed out while trying to get to Hammer. Per new updates, the beloved pet’s early warning may have saved the lives of Coleman and his parents but unfortunately, he didn’t make it out himself. As such, Coleman’s family recently shared a message of gratefulness and addressed the loss of their “little boy”.

UFC icon Mark Coleman is currently in the hospital and battling with the aftermath of saving his parents from a house fire. The fire broke out early Tuesday in his childhood home near Toledo, Ohio. Coleman, 59, pulled his mother and father out of the burning house. He went back in to save his dog, suffered from smoke inhalation, and passed out which led to him being airlifted to the local hospital where he is currently receiving constant treatment for the damage he sustained.
His family also was dealt another blow with the passing away of their dog, Hammer. As such, his daughter Kenzie Coleman took to Instagram to share a touching message about the hero who saved her father’s life.
She posted, “June 28, 2023 I received my beloved Hammer and he changed my life. He filled me with so much joy and helped me through some of the most difficult times this year. My heart is shattered that I never get to wake up next to him again. I find peace knowing he is running around in heaven and I have the most special angel. I will miss you forever my little boy.”
Morgan Coleman, her sibling, also commented on the post stating, “Rest in paradise our sweet angel. So thankful he brought you and dad so much happiness. Keep watching over our daddy little ham”
As the family mourns the loss of their furry companion while remaining thankful for his role in saving their loved ones, they have also set up a GoFundMe page to generate funds for Mark Coleman’s treatment.
And as Coleman continues what may be the toughest fight in his life, there have been some updates on his condition for the fans.

Mark Coleman, the first-ever UFC heavyweight champion, is still in the hospital due to complications stemming from his efforts to save his parents from a house fire. According to Mike DiSabato, former business associate and long-time friend of Coleman, “Doctors removed as much soot as possible from his lungs… They are planning to do the same procedure today”, he told Josh Gross.
