From cuddly kittens to delightful dogs, people have shared adorable snaps of their pets to mark  National Pet Day.

The celebration of animals,  held annually in the UK on 11 April, was established to celebrate all the pets that make Brits’ every day.

From best friends Penny, a cat, and Toffee, a Yorkshire Terrier-Dachshund cross, to best-dressed Kylo, a Saluki/Greyhound crossbreed, these adorable animals captured on camera are sure to make you smile.

While some are confident, others are shy, with one frisbee-loving dog, Buzz, preferring to peer out from his safe space.

And, when it comes to proud pet parents, stars like Andrew Lloyd Webber are also on board with National Pet Day. The composer shared a cute photo of his pup Mojito earlier today.

But it’s not just cats and dogs. Alan and Elvis, two guinea pigs from Wales, make a perfect pair with their complementary white and ginger coats.

Here, FEMAIL has collected some of the cutest pet pictures out there. Get ready to coo…
