By definition, the word bankrupt means ‘declared in law as unable to pay their debts.’ By behavior, however, it may mean something entirely different, going by Gold Coast finance influencer Tyson Scholz’s example, who is leading a helluva luxurious Dubai life despite recently declaring bankruptcy. Not only is he surrounded by niceties, he is, in true influencer fashion, flaunting his hedonistic ways openly on social media weeks after being declared bankrupt. The 38-year-old ‘finfluencer’ who goes by the name ‘ASXWolf’ has been instructed by the Federal Court to pay $283,923.

This directive stems from legal actions initiated by the Australian authority (ASIC) in December 2021, during which ASIC pursued measures to prohibit Scholz from endorsing or engaging in any financial services activities within Australia. Apparently, for this influencer, what happens in Australia stays in Australia, and when in Dubai, do like the millionaires do.

So, he has been living it up in high-end hotels and restaurants, and enjoying luxury cars and expensive cocktails. One act in particular, featuring a bottle of high-end champagne, has attracted the ire of followers.

The video showed Scholz behind the wheel of a $660,000 Rolls Royce, guzzling an ultra-expensive bottle of Dom Pérignon, at the start of the Islamic holy month of Ramadan. The post, which tagged Dubai Police, read: “Just letting you know one of our flogs escaped Australia, and he’s in your country. Imagine acting like this during Ramadan.” Commenters pointed out drinking and driving was banned in Dubai; another one labeled the act as downright ‘disrespectful.’ The Australian enjoys a following of 114K on Instagram, and even though he has a total of barely 70 posts, it is enough to understand he is living in the lap of luxury, traveling to exotic locations and in private planes no less.

He goes from the dunes of Dubai to dog sledding in the Alps and went from being moneyed to bankrupt also in the blink of an eye. The Australian Financial Review reported emails from the court as part of the regulator’s now-concluded bankruptcy case against him. “I am currently residing overseas as I have currently been unemployed for the last 18 months,” he reportedly wrote to a lawyer representing ASIC, per News.com.au. He continued, “Additionally, despite my best efforts on social media to portray positivity, I have been going through some serious deteriorating mental health issues coupled with my recent relationship stress.” That should explain the drinking while driving debacle in Dubai of all places!
