Rapper and businessman Rick Ross is known for his lavish lifestyle and social media flaunting, showing off his wealth and entertaining his millions of fans worldwide. Ross recently invested in his own private jet – aGulfstreamG550 – adding to his collection of mansions, cars, and shrewd business investments.

After purchasing theprivate jetlast year, Ross splashed out on a custom livery and interior touches to ensure it met his opulent standards. The jet alone will have set him back at least $15 million, not including the cost of any added luxuries and the livery.

Ross claims the plane will be the first of many in the coming years, and with an estimated net worth of around $150 million, he can definitely afford to add to his collection.

Rick Ross’ private jet

As Simple Flying reported at the time,Ross acquired the Gulfstream G550, registered as N676AS, in April 2023. While there is no confirmation on the price he paid, a G550 nowadays usually costs between $15-20 million.

The 18-passenger jet—dubbed “Maybach Air” after Ross’s music record label—allows Ross and his entourage to fly all around the world. With a range of over 6,000 NM, the G550 can easily complete transatlantic and transpacific trips, putting Ross within range of leading global cities like Tokyo, London, and even Dubai without the need for a refueling stop.

Livery

Images of the plane from before it passed into Ross’ hands show a relatively unremarkable white livery featuring thin red, blue, and green stripes.

Ross recruited Duncan Aviation—the world’s largest privately owned business jet MRO provider—to spruce up the plane to his liking. After a couple of months in the shop, Ross and Duncan Aviation posted videos showing the rapper’s reaction to seeing his repainted jet for the first time.

The eye-catching paint job consists of high-reflective gold lettering spelling out “RICK RO$$” on top of a black-and-gold fuselage, along with the logo for Ross’ music label, Maybach Music Group, on the tail. According to Duncan Aviation Senior Lead Designer Mary Lee, Ross “wanted a very unique, personalized design that makes a statement.”

Interior

While many private jet owners like to keep the contents of the interior a mystery, this was never going to be the case for a man like Ross. Fans have been treated to a personal virtual tour of the cabin led by Ross himself via social media, revealing a luxurious cabin complete with many added touches. Some of the standout features include:

• A fully-equipped kitchen
• An automated table that folds and unfolds itself from the armrest
• Luxury leather seats and a bed at the rear
• Custom-sewn Louis Vuitton blankets and Rick Ro$$ pillows
• Automated window shades

The rapper conducted an interview with Robb Report while onboard the jet, claiming that he spent around six months checking out different aircraft before settling on the famous Gulfstream jet.

About the Gulfstream G550

The Gulfstream G550 first entered service in 2004 after completing its maiden flight a year earlier. The jet is no longer in production, with the final airframe rolling off the production line in 2021. By that point, over 600 examples of the type had been built and delivered to customers.

Given its impressive range and passenger capacity, the G550 is a favorite with governments, militaries, and extremely wealthy individuals. Other famous owners of the jet include golfer Tiger Woods and basketball legend Michael Jordan. The latter’s G550 is estimated to be worth over $60 million and features its own cigar bar, private bedroom/bathroom, and extended range for longer journeys.

Ross’s airframe was built in 2012. With an expected lifecycle of around 30 years, this specific G550 has not even reached its half-life yet.

Flight attendant search

In November 2023, Ross posted to his social media accounts that he was looking for a personal cabin attendant, offering a salary between $85,000 and $115,000. The job description will include preparing and serving food, as well as offering “positive vibes.”

Ross has also suffered from seizures before due to a life of hard partying, including a seizure onboard the aircraft, so the attendant will also need some medical know-how, like performing CPR.

Net worth

With a reported net worth exceeding $150 million, the rapper has over 100 cars in his private collection. In fact, he has so many that he was able to host his own car show on the grounds of his sprawling estate near Atlanta, Georgia. Don’t be surprised to see Ross showing off a new jet in the next few years if all goes to plan for him.
