Wicknell Chivayo Buys US$79 Million Private Jet
Flamboyant businessman Wicknell Chivayo has done it again, and this time, it’s not a Mercedes or a house. It’s a US$79 million Gulfstream G700 private jet.
Never one to shy away from flaunting his wealth, Chivayo took to his usual playground, social media, to show off his latest splurge, insisting this was all his doing and not the result of anyone else’s money.

In his video, he caresses a miniature model of the jet like a trophy and mocks those who label him a mere “runner”, slang for someone who fronts for the real boss. For years, Chivayo has faced allegations that he’s simply President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s financial frontman, with many questioning the true source of his extravagant lifestyle.
This time, Chivayo came out swinging, boasting:
“Wonzwa umwe achiti Sir Wicknell ndi Runner. Imikaa makamboona kupi zino rinotenga private jet. Zvishandwa izvii. Zvovengwa ne muroyi chete.”

The Gulfstream G700, hailed as one of the world’s most luxurious jets, starts at US$79 million, a price that shoots up to US$95 million depending on customisations. Chivayo says he’ll stamp it with “WMC 777”.
Despite the flex, the jet announcement has stirred up more whispers than applause. Chivayo’s name has previously been dragged into controversies ranging from shady election deals to murky gold and health procurement scandals.
Wicknell Chivayo previously announced the hiring of two Zimbabwean pilots to fly his private Bombardier Challenger 300 jet after receiving over 600 applications. Taking to Instagram on Wednesday, 2 April 2025, Chivayo revealed that Brian Chawasarira and Kundai Muganiri had been selected for the roles. Chawasarira will serve as Captain, while Muganiri takes on the position of First Officer.
