Madurai: The Sri Meenakshi Sundareswarar temple authorities in Madurai have announced that registration for tickets for witnessing the celestial wedding of Goddess Meenakshi and Lord Sundareswarar as part of the annual Chithirai festival will be made available online from Apr 9.The Chithirai festival is being held from April 11 to Apr 23 this year with the celestial wedding to be held between 8.35am and 8.59am on Apr 21. S Krishnan, joint commissioner/executive officer, Sri Meenakshi Sundareswarar Temple, said that 200 and 500 tickets will be made available for devotees to witness the celestial wedding via North Tower of the temple and free darshan will be allowed on first come first served basis via the temple’s South Tower.Devotees can check https://hrce.tn.gov.in/ or https://maduraimeenakshi.hrce.tn.gov.in/ for registration of tickets. The online booking will be open from Apr 9 to Apr 13 till 9pm. One can book a maximum of two 500 tickets or a maximum of three 200 tickets and cannot book both types of tickets simultaneously. Due to safety reasons, devotees are advised to not bring children.Devotees are required to provide their Aadhaar Card, photo ID proof, email ID, and mobile phone number for booking tickets. If number of registrations are more than the number of tickets available, a computerised lottery will be used to allot tickets and selected devotees will receive a confirmation message on Apr 14.Those who received the confirmation message must get their tickets from the counter at Birla Vishram lodge on West Chithirai Street between 10am and 5pm from Apr 15 to Apr 20. Meanwhile, the temple authorities also announced that devotees can make their gift (moi) offerings of 50 and 100 on Apr 21 through the official website of the temple.
