“I honestly hope Harry will be part of our day somehow but I am prepared for that not to be our journey.”
The sister of Conor McGregor shares seven-year-old Harry with her fiancé, Terry Kavanagh.
Harry has autism and is non-verbal with sensory issues and the mum-of-two has been sharing updates about his condition online ever since he was diagnosed five years ago.
Taking to Instagram on Tuesday, Erin told her followers Harry has been struggling recently, and a school sports day this week was “just too much for him”.
“At the moment he won’t do anything outside or go places. Sports day was yesterday in his school that he knows well in the yard he plays in every day and it was just too much,” she wrote.
“They had to move him away from the crowd in the field. I really don’t know why he’s having a hard time with this. It’s gotten harder the past year. He’s happiest at home or in his classroom.”
The influencer explained that her son’s sensory issues have gotten so bad that he may not be able to attend her wedding in August, where she plans to tie the knot with Terry at the five-star Cashel Palace hotel in Tipperary.
They had originally hoped to get hitched abroad but scrapped their plans in favour of having their ceremony at home surrounded by friends and family.
Erin continued: “It’s so funny because this wasn’t the case last year when we were looking abroad at wedding venues but my gut was screaming at me to stay at home.
“I honestly hope Harry will be part of our day somehow but I am prepared for that not to be our journey.”
Harry had previously gotten measured for his bespoke Dee Graham suit for the big day, with Erin sharing that “he did great”.
The Dubliner then shared a message she received from her wedding photographer, who suggested that they “find a little quiet spot to get a few photos” on the day or, failing that, they can find another time to get a “few photos with Harry in his little suit”.
Erin and Terry travelled to several luxury locations abroad last year, including Italy and Portugal, before finally choosing the Tipperary venue following their six-month search.
After making the decision to host an Irish wedding, Erin told her followers on her social media page: “I think home is calling us for the logistics of everything with Harzo (Harry) and the stress that we put ourselves under,” she said.
“Less stress for us on our big day was the deciding factor. We have decided to stay at home and marry in our own beautiful countryside. Surrounded by the ones who have been there for us. I cannot wait to share our journey with you guys.”
It’s sure to be a big bash with the whole McGregor clan involved, with Erin’s daughter Taylor acting as maid of honour.
Conor McGregor’s fiancée Dee will also be a bridesmaid, while their children and Harry are set to be page boys on the day.
