The ‘cry count’ vlog

“Today was supposed to be my wedding day but my fiancé called it off, so I decided to book a flight and I’m gonna go see Taylor Swift instead,” the woman began her now-viral clip.

“Let’s see how many times I cry today.”

Jessica then vlogs her travels and ‘cry counts’, starting with cry number one in the taxi to the airport.

She has a second cry before eventually making it to the concert, where she films herself singing along to songs and crying for the third and fourth time.

On the flight home, she cries twice again and then once more at the airport when she “realises he’s not coming to pick me up.”

She has an eighth cry in the taxi home because “it’s the first time taking a taxi home instead of him picking me up.”

She caps things off at her brother’s home with a ninth cry because “she’s in her new home now.”

“Taylor Swift Day will be one that I will be able to cherish now”

She captioned the post: “My fiancé and I had been friends for years before we started dating. We were together for over five  years before he proposed and we were engaged for over 1 year. We were supposed to get married April 21st, but he called off the wedding just a couple weeks before.

“This turned my world upside down, but would take me a while to realise was for the absolute best. He could see we were on a road for a potentially difficult marriage due to having very different beliefs about how we wanted to live our lives. So he decided to call it off instead of work through our differences.

“I’m not angry with him and I don’t hold any grudges against him. I respect his tough decision. But the biggest thorn in my side during this experience, was that I never once asked him to propose to me. He chose to do that on his own.

“I have been a longtime fan and supporter of Taylor Swift. I knew April 21st was going to be a really difficult day for me and I didn’t want to spend it with anyone. I didn’t want to have to handle anyone else’s emotions on that day, just my own.

“And Taylor Swift was the only one who was going to help get me through it. Luckily she was touring the States and I knew she was going to be playing that night. I looked up which city she was playing in and immediately bought both a concert ticket and plane ticket.

“I spent what was supposed to be my wedding day with Taylor Swift, and it was everything I needed. I made friendship bracelets to trade with people while I was there. Making these bracelets kept me busy and my mind off things while leading up to the concert. I also thought since I was going to the concert alone, it would be a nice way to meet some people while I’m there.

“Taylor Swift Day will be one that I will be able to cherish now, instead of one that could have been… very different.”

In the comments, Swifties came to her support, with one saying, “You survived all nine times too! You got this! Someday, you will marry someone who can’t even imagine not marrying you, and it’ll be worth every cry count to get there. ❤️”

Someone else wrote: “I just know that concert was so healing for you.”

And a third added: “I’m so sorry for your hurt and heartbreak. Life will get better, and someday you’ll be grateful you dodged a bullet. Until then, keep taking care of you!”
