Bachelor Nation‘s Kelsey Anderson and Joey Graziadei are in the early stages of planning their wedding, and Kelsey exclusively tells Life & Style how they plan to honor their late family members during their nuptials.

“I don’t have any family traditions, but I definitely want to incorporate our loved ones who aren’t there with us anymore but have had an impact on both of our lives and who we are,” the Bachelor season 28 winner, 26, tells Life & Style. “So, I definitely want to pay tribute to our grandparents who aren’t here anymore and my mom. And yeah, I don’t know exactly what way we will do that, but I definitely want to incorporate those people [who] aren’t with us but are definitely watching over us. That sounds like it’s going to be really special.”

During her time on The Bachelor, Kelsey opened up about her late mother Denise’s battle with breast cancer after her 2011 diagnosis. Denise passed away seven years later.

Although Kelsey isn’t too sure what exactly she and Joey will do to honor their late family members at their wedding just yet, there may be a possibility that the future Mrs. Graziadei will incorporate butterflies for her mom.

“Whenever I see butterflies, it feels like it’s my mom there. Right before I came on here, I got off work and I was walking down, and I saw butterflies in the middle of the city of New Orleans,” Kelsey explained during an episode of The Bachelor. “And I don’t know, that kind of was reassuring to me.”

After Kelsey accepted Joey’s final rose and proposal during The Bachelor season 28 finale, which aired in March 2024, the social media star admitted that thinking about her mom’s absence at their future wedding saddens her.

“My mom wouldn’t want me to be like this. I think I want to emulate my mom and bring her joy,” Kesley said during an appearance on “The Squeeze” podcast in November 2024.

She later added, “The wedding is about him and I and the people we love the most being there. And it’s not about all of the extra bells and whistles” that come with the occasion, she said.

Although Kelsey and Joey, 29, had no doubt that they wanted to marry each other, the couple made it clear that they were in no rush to walk down the aisle. Following their time on The Bachelor, Kelsey has been thriving professionally and recently partnered with Conair to share her favorite tips for achieving smooth, voluminous, beautiful healthy hair using InfinitiPRO by Conair DigitalAIRE Drying Wand.

Joey, for his part, competed on Dancing With the Stars season 33 and took home the mirrorball trophy as the first-place winner alongside professional dancer and partner Jenna Johnson in November 2024.

In January, Kelsey revealed that she and the former tennis star were going to start the wedding planning process “in the next six months,” since their wedding date would be set “possibly next year or the following.”

“Because we got engaged so fast, we got engaged in two months. So, we want to really take our time still getting to know each other and be really serious about the wedding, and we don’t want it to be a stressful thing,” Kelsey told People at the time. “We want to be able to enjoy the process of picking out the things that matter most to us in our wedding.”
