In the two years since Lady Amelia Spencer married Greg Mallett on March 21, 2023, we’ve seen plenty of photos from that stunning day—but there are still new photos from Princess Diana’s niece’s wedding day that are still being unearthed.
Spencer occasionally shares glimpses of her big day on social media, and did so on her Instagram Story over the weekend, sharing a photo of herself and her mother, Victoria Aitken (née Lockwood), who turned 59 years old on April 20, at Spencer’s wedding festivities in South Africa.
Spencer, who is the daughter of Aitkin and Earl Charles Spencer—the brother of the late Princess of Wales—stood arm in arm with her mother, “who couldn’t look any prouder” of her daughter, according to Hello!.
Per the four-image set shared by the outlet, Aitkin is seen with her four children—Spencer, her twin sister Lady Eliza Spencer, older sister Lady Kitty Spencer, and younger brother Louis, Viscount Althorp—in various locations. In one snap, all four children stand with their mother—who looks like she could be a Spencer sibling herself—in front of palm trees; in another shot, her three daughters stand with her in front of a bar, and in another the twins stand with her in front of a beach. Finally, Aitkin looks proudly at Spencer in her wedding dress (and holding her bouquet!) as the mother of the bride glows in a sleeveless dress and statement earrings.

“Happy birthday Mam,” Spencer wrote alongside the photos. “We love you more than you will ever know.”
Aitkin, who, like her three daughters, was a former model, and Charles Spencer were married in 1989 and divorced in 1997, the same year of Diana’s untimely death in a Paris car accident at just 36 years old. At the time, the Spencer family was living in South Africa, where they moved to as a result of the relentless media pressure surrounding Diana. Countess Spencer later remarried, to Jonathan Aitkin in 2005; they divorced in 2009 and share a son, Samuel.

For her part, Spencer recently celebrated her second anniversary with Mallett, captioning photos from their wedding day, “2 years. In this life and the next.”
Spencer wore a Versace lace wedding dress for the ceremony itself, and also had a number of other dresses at the ready, including a mini-dress by Pronovias that is “a lot more party-ready than the floor-length gown she wore during the ceremony,” Hello! reported. She wore Jimmy Choo heels to top off the look.
Some thought Spencer might choose to marry at Althorp, the Spencer family ancestral home in the U.K., but she chose South Africa because, as she told Hello!, “Being back in South Africa—feels so nostalgic and special. It’s such a beautiful country, and it brings back so many memories from growing up here.”

“It feels like a big family reunion every time we visit,” she added. “We spend so much time outdoors—hiking in the mountains, relaxing on the beach, being in nature.” She continued, “There’s something about the energy of South Africa that’s hard to explain. We feel so lucky to have such a deep connection to this place.”
Spencer’s older sister Kitty also took to Instagram on Sunday to share a rare photo of her daughter Athena and their Easter celebrations. Kitty showed Athena—with her back to the camera—running through a park in a pastel floral dress, with oversized bunny ears perched atop her blonde curls.

“My Easter Bunny,” Kitty captioned the snap.
Kitty told Hello! about her daughter’s special connection to twins Amelia and Eliza, sharing, “She certainly has two doting, laughing aunts, who say they are ‘steering her in our direction.’” Kitty added that Athena is so close to the twins it’s like they’ve become triplets, and “When the girls are on the phone and she doesn’t want them to go, she pulls out her whole repertoire of tricks,” Kitty said.

Kitty shares Athena with husband Michael Lewis, whom she married in Italy in July 2021, complete with five Dolce & Gabbana dresses. Since becoming a mom, Kitty admits she’s dialed back on work commitments and is prioritizing motherhood: “I’m doing a lot less now that I’ve got my little girl,” she said.
