One maid-of-honour was left shocked at what the minister said to her at her sister’s wedding.
She had prepared herself for a day of love and joy to celebrate her sister and her husband-to-be. However, she was left disgusted by the ‘gross’ comment the minister said to her.
Luckily for the woman though, the best man stepped in and helped her hit back at the minister after the inappropriate comment.

The woman shared what happened on the Wedding Shaming forum on Reddit. She wrote as the title, ‘The minister said this to me when I was maid of honour at my sister’s wedding’.
The minister, whose identity was kept anonymous, asked the woman if she knew about a supposed ‘Unitarian tradition’.
He claimed the maid-of-honour is supposed to spend the wedding night with the minister.
The official website for the Unitarian Universalist Association doesn’t say anything about it being a tradition — past or present — for the maid-of-honour to sleep with the minister. Unitarians believe that weddings are about “celebrating love” between two people.
Unitarian Universalist ministers can be hired to officiate weddings for interfaith couples, atheists, and those who want same-sex marriages.
The woman added in her post: “I am seldom at a loss for words, but I was gobsmacked. The best man came to my rescue and said: ‘That’s why she’s a Presbyterian.'”
The family didn’t know the minister before the ceremony and had hired him because they wanted someone from the unitarian denomination since the the bride and groom aren’t religious.
We think they may regret their choice now thought s the inappropriate comment wasn’t the clergyman’s only offence.
“This guy also jerked my sister and brother-in-law around during the planning, always coming up with reasons to ask for more money,” said the woman.
The bride and groom weren’t local to the town they married un, so they chose an ‘unknown clergyman’. “This was the only guy within probably a 50-mile radius,” the woman wrote. “He had them over a barrel.”
People in the comments section were disgusted by the minister’s remark, as one exclaimed: “Damn, thank god the best man was quick-witted and could shut it down. That’s so gross.”
Some people also thought that they should report the clergyman. “The Unitarians are pretty strict and have a clear hierarchy, I’d report it,” one person said.
