The Duke and Duchess of Sussex wed six years ago in a lavish ceremony in St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle with a reception hosted by King Charles at Frogmore House

Silence from Harry and Meghan on sixth wedding anniversary as royal family snubs pair

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s sixth wedding anniversary has passed with little celebration as the couple appear to stay silent and the royal family doesn’t share the anniversary either.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex wed six years ago today (May 19) in 2018 with a lavish celebration in Windsor before a huge evening reception with an elite guest list, but it appears the Sussexes have kept any celebration of the event strictly private without so much as a social media tribute.

It’s not just Harry and Meghan who appear to have stayed silent on their wedding anniversary, as the royal family hasn’t acknowledged the event either. Harry and Meghan, who stepped down from the royal family in 2020, appear to have been snubbed by Buckingham Palace and Kensington Palace, as well as other royals who haven’t paid tribute or shared any memories from the event six years ago.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex wed in a lavish Royal Wedding held in St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle with a reception hosted by King Charles at Frogmore House in Home Park. Just 200 of the original 2,640 guests invited into Windsor Castle were given special access to the most private part of the day – the evening reception.

Despite the couple making it to six years of marriage and two children later, one royal expert believes the wedding may never have taken place if Princess Diana had still been alive. In March, Dickie Arbiter spoke to Times Radio about the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. The commentator on the British Royal Family, who was the press spokesman for Queen Elizabeth II from 1988 until 2000, said that he believes if Diana had been alive, Harry and Meghan would not have gotten married.

Mr Arbiter said: “If Diana had been alive, I’m going to stick my neck out here, and I doubt Harry would have married Meghan.” He went on to add: “Diana was very careful about her boys, they were her boys. She protected them, and she would have protected them against anybody she felt wasn’t the right person.”
